A forum whose guiding idea is to connect, hosted in places that support innovative medicine: the hospital in Piekary Śląskie, the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice and the Silesian University of Technology in Zabrze. Each edition has its own leading theme.

The innovative hospital: simulation, modelling and 3D printing

The first forum took place in a hospital rather than at a university — and that shaped its character. The leading theme was the use of three-dimensional models, both virtual and printed, in preparing and planning bone and joint surgery, alongside medical simulation in virtual and mixed reality. The new technologies could be tested hands-on, on site.

Free admission. The event was announced by the Silesian Medical Chamber.

AI edition — artificial intelligence in medicine

The conference was opened by Prof. Tomasz Francuz, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. The day was divided into four sessions: an introduction to artificial intelligence in medicine, AI in surgical specialties, AI and medical education, and AI in practice. Speakers came from the Medical University of Silesia, the Silesian University of Technology, AGH, the Medical University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, LMU Munich and Osaka Metropolitan University. Hands-on workshops (Sano, Medialion, BrainScan, the Distance Learning Centre) and an online broadcast ran in parallel.

3D edition — simulation, modelling and 3D printing in medicine

Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Silesian University of Technology, 40 Roosevelta St., Zabrze · from 9:00

The third edition focused on how 3D technologies and artificial intelligence genuinely support the work of surgeons. Four sessions covered functional anatomical models and 3D printing in bone regeneration, an in-hospital modelling and printing lab, skeletal microstructures and personalised implants, preoperative planning, and orthopaedic oncology. The day ended with a tour of EHTIC — the European HealthTech Innovation Center.
